Adrian O'Connor started Arctus with his wife in 2006.
The dream was to make Arctus a fully fledged ISV. We immediately set about building a Content Management System, WebShare, and a Document Management System, DocSpaces. Both systems got a bit of use - still do in fact - but the truth was we simply didn't know what we were doing. If you've ever read the fantastic 'The E-Myth Revisited' -- a book about running a small business -- you might recognise this as a clear example the engineer going to work.
So, running out of money, we started consulting. To this day consulting is 99% of what Arctus is about, but the dream is still there - albeit we now realise that running a Big ISV isn't really what we wanted to do at all. Imagine the stress! No, we love creating products, and we love solving problems, and we like being small. We're a MicroISV. Maybe one day we will get big - we certainly have plenty of ambition - but that's a way off. If you want to follow our adventures through the world of small business and entrepreneurship, you can follow Adrian at his blog: http://www.adrianoconnor.net
We've got a lot going on at the moment, so new products don't appear as often as we'd like, but we're working away night and day. Hopefully, someday soon, we'll have something to interest you. Or maybe you'll hire us to help you out. Either way, thanks for reading :)
